Natural History and Climate Change of Dward Relic Shrubs
The Korcan Peninsula is immenschuhe in cms of biodiversity, providing
h is and serving as an coological corridor and bridge for various for and Couna that connect the Eurasian comic and the Pacific Occan. For this case, it calls for in-depth rescarca on such value. Fortunately, the section of multilateral joint MOU for the establishment of East Asia Biodiversity Conservation Network EABCN) imbing organizations from Korca, China, Japan, Mongolia and Russia East Asian region in 2014 prepared the domestic and international foundation for Korea to serve as the central axis in promoting
carch in biodiversity and preservation of vulnerable species in the East Asian region This study investigates the phylogeographical value of forests in the Korcan Penila and their clic dwarf trees suffering from climate change, forest development, wystem damage and disturbance. It is expected to increase the dendrological, natural historical and plytogographical value of the Korean Peninsula and raise the understanding and alicntion of the international community for climate and environmental changes and the Coresi vegciation of the Korean Peninsula.
With respect to the history and value of our forests and the eleven species of dwarf shrubs living in the forest four ymisperms and son ang permis, this study in parted special meaning to them, mapped out their distribution and predicted the patterns of their distributional change according to dimate change. The study was conducted in small themes such as clasificacion by species, features, distribution, natural history regional characteristics, se conservation, geographical distribution by species, climate change and future distribution. As a result, information systematically consisted on eleven varieties of dwarf shrubspecies distributed in the alpine and subalpine zones in the Korean Peninsula, and the special areas of East Asia. In addition, this study provided an important key to understanding the natural history of the ran Pena wake mining the cases of isolated distribution of some of these relic species centering around specific mountains of the Korean Peninsula as well as East Asia On behalf of Korca National Arboretum, I would like to express my deepest grade to the researchers who spared no efforts for this study despite difficult conditions. It will be most rewarding for the reachers to see that this book becomes a
wide for natural history Research on the Korean Peninsula
